Price drop after purchase: what to check?
Has the price of a product dropped after you placed your order? A price drop does not automatically mean that a refund of the difference is due. Your next step depends primarily on the merchant's policy, any potential price guarantee, and the terms and conditions that were in effect at the time of purchase.
Start by comparing the same elements
- the same product, the same reference, and the same configuration;
- the price actually paid and the new displayed price;
- the date of purchase and the date of the drop;
- the merchant involved;
- any conditions regarding a price guarantee or commercial policy.
How to classify the alert?
Confirmed: the price drop concerns the exact same product and the conditions for action are clearly established.
Probable: the product appears identical, but a condition remains to be verified.
To be checked: the reference, the merchant, the timeframe, or the conditions do not match closely enough to draw a conclusion.
Keep the relevant evidence
Save your order confirmation, the price paid, a dated screenshot of the new price, and the terms of any applicable price policy. If you make a request, also keep the response and the final outcome.
What AfterSentry can track
Guard+ can link a price alert to the relevant purchase and help you distinguish a potential opportunity from a truly confirmed result. No amount is presented as recovered before verification.
